A Look at Leonard Bernstein's Life, on What Would Have Been His 100th Birthday

As we approach what would have been the Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthday on August 25th, musicians and listeners all over the world have been celebrating with performances and tributes throughout the year.

On September 8th, 91Classical will live broadcast the Nashville Symphony's Bernstein Centennial Opening Night, featuring an all-Bernstein program. Tune in to hear it at 8pm. 

It's impossible to condense Bernstein's accomplished life into a simple chronology. Our timeline below highlights some of what made the composer's life so rich, with emphasis on his consistent advocacy for the underdog, his deep interest in faith and politics, and selected landmark compositions and performances.
