Turnip Green Creative Reuse presents "The Collector", a solo exhibition featuring work by Carrie Cox. Working mostly in paper and found objects, Cox allows the materials she collects to inspire her process. Through the use of repetitive pattern, grids, sewn lines, and circles, she explores the connection between found objects; creating an environment and building a story for the viewer to find their own interpretation. The Collector will be on exhibit from August 11 – September 1, 2018. A public opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 6:00pm–9:00pm at TGCR’s Green Gallery at 945 Woodland Street, Nashville. Carrie Cox is a bookmaker and mixed media artist residing in Asheville, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Stetson University where she received her BA in Fine Arts, and she holds an Associate of Science degree in Graphic Design from Daytona Beach College. Growing up in an artistic family, Cox was exposed to many crafts including knitting, weaving and woodworking, which influence her work today. She can be found most days in her third floor studio at the Wedge in the River Arts District of Asheville, North Carolina.
